New Brunswick – Farmers across New Brunswick will open their farm gates to celebrate the 23rd Anniversary of Open Farm Day. This year, the event takes place in-person and online on Sunday, September 17, 2023.

Each participating farm will offer its own unique experience. Visitors will explore working farms, meet the farmers who grow our food, and participate in educational activities and family fun! Event details for New Brunswick are  available at www.atlanticopenfarmday.ca.

“Open Farm Day is a remarkable opportunity for Maritimers to visit and learn about local farms, and see firsthand how innovative and sustainable Canadian agriculture is. Thank you to the organizers for continuing this tradition and to the farmers who volunteer to open their doors and provide a memorable experience for families year after year.”

– The Honourable Lawrence MacAulay, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food

“Open Farm Day gives New Brunswick families the opportunity to experience what life is like on a farm, and where the food on their dinner table comes from. For over 20 years, farmers in our communities have opened their doors to allow us to observe and appreciate the time and dedication it takes to operate a farm. From a glass of milk to a plate of potatoes, NB farmers work hard every day to produce these high quality and safe products. It’s an exciting time for the industry to showcase modern technologies that are being used in the field and barns, and we hope that your family will be able to take part in this year’s activities.” – Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries Minister Margaret Johnson

“I invite everyone to participate in New Brunswick’s Open Farm Day! This will provide a unique opportunity for local residents to experience first-hand the hard work and passion of our local farmers.” said Joël Lamarche, President of the Agricultural Alliance of New Brunswick. “By visiting the farms, participants will have the opportunity to gain a better understanding of food production.”

Visitors can plan to take part in unique events in their home provinces or discover life on the farm across Atlantic Canada online. Not to be missed- the Open Farm Day Passport offers a chance to win a great prize package for children of all ages as they learn about the source of local food!
