The Agricultural Alliance of New Brunswick appoints new President for three-year term.
Fredericton, NB: On Friday, January 16, the Agricultural Alliance concluded its 20th Annual General Meeting in Fredericton, NB. Following the meeting, the Board of Directors elected a new President, succeeding outgoing President Joël Lamarche. The Alliance is pleased to congratulate Danielle Connell of Lower Cambridge on her election.
Danielle grew up in Jemseg on a broiler chicken farm and a strawberry and apple u-pick operation. After spending a decade working in university research offices, she transitioned into rural business development and research. Five years ago, she and her husband purchased a sheep farm and abattoir operation in Lower Cambridge. Managing the farm alongside her husband is her happy place, and no matter how challenging it becomes, they do it with love in their hearts and a dog at their heels.
Through her work as a Director of the Sussex Agriculture Cooperative 1841 and her involvement in developing a cluster of farm-based anaerobic digesters, Danielle has met many farmers whose stories and work ethic inspire her to think big and advocate for what is best for rural communities.
“2026 is the International Year of the Woman Farmer, so it is my good fortune to be elected as the next President of the Agricultural Alliance of NB. This is a role I do not take lightly; it is my top priority. I consider it an honour to represent the membership who work hard every day to feed their families, their communities and customers around the world.” Says Danielle Connell, newly appointment president of the Agricultural Alliance of NB.
As President, Connell will work collaboratively with the Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries to develop a strong action plan based on industry needs. She will continue to support the Agriculture Growth and Sustainability Advisory Committee in advancing industry recommendations, ensuring the strategy remains relevant, and reporting progress to members. Connell is committed to meaningful member engagement, transparency, and representing all Alliance members with integrity.
“Danielle’s election as President is especially meaningful in a year recognizing women farmers globally. I am confident she will guide the Board toward a future of growth and prosperity for New Brunswick’s agricultural sector,” says Anna Belliveau, CEO of the Agricultural Alliance of NB
With Connell’s leadership, the Alliance enters the coming year focused on collaboration, growth, and a strong future for New Brunswick agriculture.
